Chelsea broke their three-match scoreless streak on Sunday as they defeated Leeds United 1-0 in the FA Cup semi-final, and goalkeeper Robert Sanchez hailed his team's efforts in the victory.

The Blues have had a tumultuous past month, culminating in Liam Rosenior's dismissal as manager after the team lost five straight Premier League matches without scoring a goal. Chelsea's scoring woes had become so bad that — outside of a 7-0 thrashing delivered to third tier side Port Vale in the FA Cup quarter-finals — they had not scored since March 11.

Sanchez, meanwhile, had become all too familiar with picking the ball out of his net during that woeful run, with Chelsea allowing three or more goals five times. So when Rosenior was replaced by interim head coach Calum McFarlane, it was hoped that the team would respond with a more solid display in their first game under the new boss, which is exactly what happened on Sunday.

"It's amazing," Sanchez told TNT Sports. "The boys reacted in the way they should have. We've tried to keep everyone positive in training and it's the chance to be in another final. It's something we've been working for and it's amazing.

"I'm happy. I always try to do my job. We go through ups and downs. I'm very happy about the season I've had but it's about ending it on a high. Four Premier League games to go and a final."

Sanchez credits McFarlane for lifting the mood in training as the Blues look to end the season strong.

"Keep it positive and focus on the next games," the goalkeeper said when asked about McFarlane's message to the team. "We said six games to go and it's on us to try and win the final."

As for what a potential FA Cup victory would mean for Chelsea after a trying campaign, Sanchez simply stated: "It would mean something great after a tough season, so we will go there and fight for everything on the pitch."
