Cole Palmer would fetch a higher transfer fee than Jude Bellingham in the current market, according to Chris Waddle.
Palmer has emerged as the star player for a resurgent Chelsea side that are fresh off winning the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup, with the 23-year-old at the centre of nearly everything for the Blues' attack.
Waddle, who earned 62 caps for England in the 1980s and 1990s amid a club career that included stops at Newcastle United and Tottenham, believes Palmer's emergence as the focal point for Chelsea has boosted his value above that of his Three Lions teammate Bellingham.
According to Flashscore, who provide the best betting sites, Waddle said that Palmer has reached the same level as Barcelona wunderkind Lamine Yamal, and he thinks both would command a larger fee than Bellingham if they became available.
“I think if Cole Palmer was available, you’d have to break the bank to get him," Waddle said. "Lamine Yamal is in that same category. I think Palmer would go for more than Jude Bellingham.
“In the modern game players go for over £100million and at the minute you’d have to say about £150million, Palmer is around that category.
“The money has gone daft, in my day you’d pay £1million for a player, it’s just gone ridiculous.
“At the moment, Palmer and Yamal would be worth over £100million.”
