FIFA World Cup 26 kicks off in just 25 days, but before the action gets underway on the pitch we have already been presented with pageantry on video.
Some of the biggest brands in the world are getting in on the action with commercials that would rival anything at the Super Bowl, and they're bringing the likes of Lionel Messi, David Beckham, Timothée Chalamet, Steve Carell and others together in a clash of football's biggest stars and some of Hollywood's most notable personalities.
As the tournament draws nearer, there will surely be more crossovers and imaginative ad campaigns to hit our screens. Until then, these are the best World Cup adverts we've seen so far.
Potato chip brand Lay's encourages non-fans to jump on the World Cup bandwagon, with Hollywood star and LAFC co-owner Will Ferrell driving a transport truck (a.k.a. the "bandwagon") decked out as a viewing party for the matches.
Along the way, he picks up David Beckham and NFL legend Marshawn Lynch, who join in on the festivities.
Jurgen Klopp acts as the narrator and main character of this two-minute spot, which also features Erling Haaland and Godzilla.
Fans at various watch parties around the world are shown enjoying Budweiser products while cheering on their teams, and a particular supporter gets lost in his own thoughts as he envisions an unforgettable moment with Haaland (and his dad) at a photo booth.
From one beer ad to another, this Michelob commercial features an impromptu USA vs. Argentina match in a hotel lobby contested by Christian Pulisic, Antonee Robinson and Sergino Dest vs. Messi, Lautaro Martinez and Nico Paz.
The action eventually spills into other areas of the hotel, including the restaurant, kitchen and pool. Spectators cheer on the proceedings, and some even get involved, like O Fenômeno Ronaldo, legendary Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, American women's soccer icon Alex Morgan and actor Billy Bob Thornton, invoking his famous role in "Landman."
Another beer brand takes a different angle with their World Cup ad, showing everyday fans in a Brazilian city re-enacting iconic moments from that nation's unmatched history in the sport.
Featuring Ronaldo and current Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti, the commercial really makes its impact felt when Italian legend Roberto Baggio steps out of a restaurant bearing his name to recreate his famous penalty kick miss at the 1994 World Cup which won Brazil their fourth star.
A simple ad featuring Cristiano Ronaldo, Vinicius Jr., Kylian Mbappé and Messi each battling to put the final piece on a Lego version of the iconic World Cup trophy. Each player shows off their own Lego likeness, hoping to top off the trophy with their minifigure before a boy interjects with his own figure taken from inside the trophy itself.
This ad imagines a world where all the world's rules are left up to football fans, including the use of VAR in everyday situations, the offside rule being taught in university, and "everything gets settled on the pitch."
Starring Beckham, Vini Jr, Mo Salah, Alexia Putellas and world famous chef Gordon Ramsey, this Pepsi effort is not officially affiliated with the World Cup but still captures the spirit of classic commercials that accompany the tournament.
Beckham is ubiquitous in this year's ad campaigns, and the retired legend shows up in yet another Lay's commercial — this one set at his Miami home as the Inter Miami co-owner is joined by Putellas, Thierry Henry and "The 40-Year-Old Virgin " star Steve Carrell for a watch party, but they realize there are not enough potato chips for the party.
They embark on a trip to the grocery store and invite shoppers who have bought Lay's to the watch party, resulting in dozens of fans descending on Beckham's house. Lionel Messi shows up after training, Lay's bag in hand of course, to complete the party.
A halftime karaoke session led by Carell ensues, as a concerned Beckham tries to keep his luxurious home spotless.
In arguably the gold standard of ads for this year's World Cup, Oscar nominee Chalamet stars and narrates a short film about the legend of a New York City 3 v 3 street football team through the decades.
The team has taken on all comers, including prime Beckham (yes, he's also in this one), Zinedine Zidane and Alessandro Del Piero, and in present day Chalamet has put together a trio of Trinity Rodman, Jude Bellingham and Lamine Yamal to face them.
The result is a wonderful ode to football's past and present, with a distinctly American twist. Chalamet channels his starring role in "Marty Supreme" and even gets to speak some French, while the likes of Messi, Bad Bunny, Ousmane Dembélé, Raphinha, Florian Wirtz and Pedri all make cameos.
