Where does Jude Bellingham rank among England's greatest tournament performances?
The 2026 World Cup is fast becoming a tournament that Jude Bellingham is taking over.
In a tournament where all the big guns have turned up, the Real Madrid star is putting his name front and centre of the finals and has been one of the competition's standout names.
Bellingham has scored six times in North America and won four Superior Player of the Match gongs across the World Cup and was once again the Three Lions hero on Saturday when his two goals helped secure a semi-final place at the expense of Norway.
The 23-year-old isn't the first England player to shine at a major tournament, so where does Thomas Tuchel's number 10 rank among these memorable performances?

Michael Owen - 1998 World Cup

England's original boy wonder burst onto the scene during the 1997-98 season as an 18-year-old and gatecrashed Glenn Hoddle's World Cup squad.
He finished joint top-scorer in the Premier League, but started the tournament on the bench against Tunisia. However, with England needing a goal in their second group match with Romania, Owen netted his first tournament goal in the 2-1 defeat.
However, his crowning glory came in the Round of 16 match with Argentina, as Owen scored one of the great World Cup goals. The striker's pace and power bamboozled the Argentine defence as his driving solo run was finished off with a shot into the top corner of the net.
Sadly for England, they went out on penalties that night, but for Owen, he'd made his mark on the global stage.

Another teenager who had lit up the Premier League in 2003-04 and couldn't be ignored as part of Sven-Goran Eriksson's squad for the Euros.
Rooney was lively in the opening game against France, but it was in the other two fixtures that he took hold of the tournament and would be one of the best young players on show.
Two goals against both Switzerland and Croatia, where the Everton youngster showed no fear in bullying his much more experienced opposition and finishing them off with the raw power and technical ability that would become his trademark.
Sadly, he couldn't prevent England's quarter-final exit to Portugal, and he never repeated his exploits in a major tournament over the rest of his long international career.
Jude Bellingham - 2026 World Cup
Jude was already a superstar for both club and country before the start of this summer's World Cup, but he came into it with a point to prove.
Having suffered a difficult season with form and fitness with Madrid, his place in the England team was up for debate, with Thomas Tuchel seemingly not convinced by the midfielder's place in the team - or was that dalliance or just part of the German's plan?
Since scoring in the opening game against Croatia, Bellingham has been the Three Lions' go-to guy, alongside Harry Kane. His braces against both Mexico and Norway were typical Bellingham clutch moments for a player who revels in playing on the big stage.
Another two performances like that and he could be Sir Jude by the time the year is out.

Upon his return to England, his face then adorned everything from shell suits and pop records to board games and action figures.
Geoff Hurst - 1966 World Cup

How could it be anyone else? Until England wins another World Cup, Geoff Hurst's story in 1966 will trump everything else.
Going into the tournament, Hurst was seen as a back-up striker to Jimmy Greaves in Sir Alf Ramsey's team.
However, an injury to Greaves during the finals gave the West Ham forward his chance and boy did he take the opportunity.
A winner in the quarter-final against Argentina was one thing, but having kept his place for the final, he etched his name into World Cup folklore forever with his hat-trick against Germany.
