The  UEFA Champions League  returns this week for Matchday 6 as the race to make the top eight intensifies.

Nine games take place on Tuesday and another nine on Wednesday in the final action of 2025 before the competition resumes in January.

Here, DAZN News assesses the key talking points during Tuesday’s mouthwatering set of fixtures.

Bayern ready to bounce back

Bayern Munich were beaten 3-1 at Arsenal in Matchday 5 of the Champions League a fortnight ago.

It was the Bundesliga champions’ first loss in Europe this season and no doubt left them with a few bruised egos.

Vincent Kompany’s men were being talked about as potential Champions League winners before being defeated at the Emirates.

A home clash tonight, though, against Sporting Club should see them return to winning ways and take them a step closer towards a top-eight finish – and automatic qualification for the round of 16.

Blues can flex their muscles again

It is an intriguing thought. If Chelsea can beat Barcelona so comprehensively, what might they be capable of in this season's Champions League?

Enzo Maresca’s young side served up a stunning 3-0 demolition of the Spanish champions a fortnight ago.

It left them handily placed in seventh place ahead of tonight's trip to Atalanta.

The Italian side have generally struggled in Serie A this season but Maresca will be wary of their threat.

Like Chelsea, they have taken 10 points from five games in the Champions League.

Barca need a response

If Barcelona were embarrassed by Chelsea in Matchday 5, it was nothing compared to the savaging they received in the Spanish media.

Such was their capitulation at Stamford Bridge, the headline in Mundo Deportivo detailed how “a Barca far from its level suffered from a resounding KO”, adding that Chelsea could have had “even more” goals.

The Spanish outlet AS dubbed the outing a “nightmare”, where Chelsea had “run over” Barcelona, who lie 18th in the standings and simply must beat Eintracht Frankfurt at home tonight.

Anything less is unthinkable for the Catalan giants.

Slot machine faces huge test

Much has been made of Liverpool’s struggle for any kind of consistency this season, and rightly so.

Especially after the Mohamed Saga which blew up after Saturday's dramatic 3-3 draw at Leeds United.

The Reds are way off the pace in the Premier League and were thumped 3-1 at home by PSV in their last Champions League game.

The alarm bells rang more loudly than ever after a surrender which saw Arne Slot’s men drop down to 13th in the standings.

Now they travel to face an Inter Milan side who made the Champions League final last term and are shaping up as genuine contenders again.

They lie fourth in the table after suffering their first defeat of the campaign, 2-1 at Atletico Madrid, last time out.

Home comforts for Spurs?

Life as Tottenham Hotspur manager began well for Thomas Frank, but things have started to unravel in recent weeks.

Wins have been hard to come by and his men were beaten 5-3 at Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League a fortnight ago.

It was Spurs’ first defeat in Europe this season and left them in 16th place.

But tonight they host a Slavia Prague side who lie 31st in the table after failing to win any of their opening five games.

Tottenham’s form at home has been patchy at best throughout 2025, but expect them to pick up three vital points against the champions of the Czech Republic.
