Fluminense team guide

Location

One of several clubs based in the Brazilian metropolis of Rio de Janeiro, Fluminense represent the neighbourhood of Laranjeiras.

Fluminense call the legendary Maracanã Stadium home, along with three other Rio clubs.

Origin

Dating back to 1902, Fluminense were the first football club established in Rio.

It took little time for Fluminense to become one of the premier sides in Rio, as they won their first state championship in 1906.

Less than a decade after their founding, a spat between Fluminense officials and players led to the formation of arch-rival side Flamengo.
