Glen Johnson feels Liverpool are running out of time to sort out the futures of star trio Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

All three are out of contract at the end of the campaign, but there has been no sign of any of them inking new deals to stay with the club.

Speaking exclusively to DAZN News, thanks to Betano, Johnson believes the situation shouldn't have got to this stage and needs to be sorted as soon as possible.

"I think the longer it goes on, the more it looks like they're leaving because it shouldn't be too difficult," he said.

"You know, they're all three great players. If the players want to stay, I'm pretty sure the club will want to keep them.  But we've been talking about this now for, well, it feels like the whole season. I just think it shouldn't be that hard to do. So I don't know.

"They're going to end on a high either way, but if they're going to stay, time is running out because I'd like to have seen something done by now."

FIFA Club World Cup 2025

Liverpool get a much-needed break this weekend due to the World Cup qualifiers after seeing their treble dream go up in smoke, thanks to two huge defeats.

Arne Slot's team were dumped out of the Champions League by PSG before losing the Carabao Cup Final to Newcastle, meaning the Premier League is their final hope of a trophy.

However, Johnson says it will still be deemed a successful campaign if they win the title come the end of the season.

Adding: "If you said back in August that Liverpool was only going to win the Premier League, people would have bit their arm off.

"So, I think they're still, once the dust settles and, you know, they get over this disappointment of the last week or so, then, you know, I think they're still deeming it positive for sure.

"They went through a huge change, they got to where they got to in the other tournaments, and touch wood, you know, they can get the last one over the line.

"Overall, it would be positive if this question was asked in August."
