Four must-watch World Cups before the end of 2025

  • The FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ concluded with Chelsea FC's victory on 13 July
  • The tournament was only the second of six World Cups organised by FIFA which will be held in 2025
  • The U-20 World Cup, the U-17 World Cup, the Women's U-17 World Cup and the Futsal Women's World Cup will also be played this year

So far this year, two major FIFA global trophies have already been lifted by jubilant winners. In the skies over Seychelles on 11 May, Brazil kicked off the year's celebrations by winning the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2025™. With their final victory against Belarus, the Seleção added a seventh title to their record haul.

Chelsea FC then wrote a new chapter in their history just a few weeks later. The Blues won the magnificent FIFA Club World Cup™ trophy in New York New Jersey after an outstanding 3-0 final victory against Paris Saint-Germain, their triumph concluding a thrilling maiden edition of the groundbreaking tournament.

FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025™ | 27 September - 19 October 2025

Who will succeed Uruguay on the U-20 World Cup winners' list? Starting on 27 September, the excitement that accompanies every global FIFA event will return in Chile. The tournament will kick off with opening-day matches between Japan and Egypt as well as Korea Republic and Ukraine.

FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Morocco 2025™ | 17 October – 8 November 2025

Just one year after a memorable edition in the Dominican Republic concluded with a dream final between Korea DPR and Spain – the two most successful nations in the competition's history – the U-17 Women's World Cup is back. Now, the tournament will be held annually and will take place in Morocco through to 2029, and feature 24 teams instead of 16.

FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025™ | 3 – 27 November 2025

Like its female counterpart, the U-17 World Cup is entering a new era and will now be held every year. While the women's tournament has settled in for five years in Morocco, the men's tournament will gather the planet's future football stars in Qatar until 2029. The U-17 World Cup will also expand this year, increasing from 24 teams in the last edition (Indonesia 2023) to 48 teams. Germany are the defending champions.

FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup Philippines 2025™ | 21 November – 7 December 2025

Following the pioneering Club World Cup, FIFA is launching another tournament in 2025: the Futsal Women's World Cup. The first edition will be held in the Philippines. Given the growth of the discipline and the exceptional success of the FIFA Futsal World Cup Philippines 2024™ last year, the best female futsal players in the world are expected to deliver an unforgettable inaugural event.

Six nations on all fronts

For six countries, the end of the year promises to be especially exciting. Brazil, Colombia, Italy, Japan, Morocco and New Zealand will participate in all the remaining tournaments. Already present in the Seychelles for the Beach Soccer World Cup, Brazil, Italy and Japan will even tick off the remarkable achievement of taking part in all national team FIFA World Cups in 2025.

Argentina, Canada, Spain, USA, France, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay and Korea Republic, meanwhile, will take part in three of the four World Cups.

In total, 64 different countries will be represented across the four upcoming global tournaments.
