Marc Cucurella was subbed off at half-time of Chelsea's 2-2 draw with Leeds United on Tuesday, with the reason later revealed as an injury.
Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior said the full-back had an issue with his hamstring, and on Wednesday Rosenior provided an update on Cucurella's status for the Blues' fourth-round FA Cup match at Hull City on the weekend.
"For Marc, it’s too early to know [the extent of the injury]," Rosenior said at a press conference.
"He’s definitely out for the game against Hull. We’re doing our scans and assessments on him and hopefully, it’s not too long [his absence]."
Cucurella has been an important part of Chelsea's lineup, appearing in 24 Premier League matches and seven Champions League games so far this season. Moreover, the 27-year-old is part of the Spain national team that won Euro 2024 and is scheduled to face Argentina in the Finalissima in late March, but Cucurella's injury is reportedly causing concern for the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) that it may be a longer term setback.
More will be known once the results of an MRI are revealed, but Chelsea are preparing to play without Cucurella for this weekend, at least.
