Porto is the second-largest city in Portugal after Lisbon and home to Porto and Boavista.
FC Porto is located in the parish of Campanha in the eastern part of the city.
The club was founded on 28 September 1893 as Foot-Ball Club do Porto by António Nicolau de Almeida, a local port wine merchant and avid sportsman, who became fascinated with football during his trips to England.

Porto are one of Portugal’s most decorated clubs, having won 30 league titles and the domestic cup on 20 occasions.
They were also the last Portuguese club to win the Champions League when Jose Mourinho led them to victory over Monaco in 2004.
As one of the country’s top three teams, a number of Portugal legends have donned the blue and white of Porto, including many of the heroes from their 2004 Champions League triumph.
The Spanish striker is enjoying his best-ever season in front of goal and has earned himself a call-up to the national team.
Vitor Bruno paid the price for Porto's disappointing title bid by getting sacked in January and was replaced by the Argentine who was drafted in to take the reins.
It is a first European post for the 39-year-old, who has primarily coached in his homeland for the past decade and was most recently in charge of Liga MX side Cruz Azul.
Porto are one of a dozen UEFA teams competing in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and qualify as the fifth-best ranked eligible team in the four-year ranking system.
Palmeiras have been drawn into Group A with Inter Miami, Al Ahly and Palmeiras.
