When does the 2026-27 Premier League season start?

Football fans' thoughts may well be with the daily happenings and what's going on at the 2026 World Cup, but domestic issues are never far from the forefront of their minds, and the hopes and dreams of another Premier League campaign. 

Amid the constant transfer rumour mill and the manager merry-go-round, normal service will resume from August as England's top flight begins for another campaign. 

Arsenal will look to defend the Premier League crown for the first time in two decades, while Coventry City, Hull City and Ipswich Town return to the Premier League fold. So does it all begin again?

As it's a World Cup year, the Premier League season will kick off slightly later in 2026.

The 2026-27 campaign will begin on Friday, August 21, 2026 and run until the weekend of Sunday, May 30, 2027. 

The season will consist of 33 weekends and five midweek match rounds across the term.
