Another weekend of Premier League action awaits, but before a new set of matches kick off we need to take one final look back at Matchweek 23.

It was a slate of games that featured Arsenal finally losing at home, while some of the teams near the bottom of the standings rose up to claim wins or draws and climb closer to respectability.

We try to make sense of it all in the latest Power Rankings, which are not meant to look at the overall picture, but rather to provide a snapshot based on current form, strength of opposition, and other factors. As always, these rankings are based on Premier League play only.

Here are DAZN News' Power Rankings ahead of Matchweek 24.

1. Aston Villa (▲4)

A victory over one of the hottest teams in the league propels Villa to the top spot.

Next match: Feb. 1 vs. Brentford

2. Newcastle (—)

The Magpies are the aforementioned "one of the hottest teams in the league," and though they fell to Villa they have still won three of their last five with a draw thrown in for good measure.

Next match: Jan. 31 at Liverpool

3. Liverpool (—)

The Reds fell to Bournemouth and will need to pick up wins or they will drop down these rankings quickly.

Next match: Jan. 31 vs. Newcastle

4. Leeds United (▲2)

A plucky away draw pushes Leeds a little higher, and they've only lost once in five games.

Next match: Jan. 31 vs. Arsenal

5. Arsenal (▼4)

A big tumble for the league leaders after suffering their first loss at home. The Gunners cannot afford to allow teams to claim three points at the Emirates.

Next match: Jan. 31 at Leeds United

6. Chelsea (▲4)

It's two wins in a row and points claimed in their last five matches for the Blues after taking care of Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Next match: Jan. 31 vs. West Ham

7. Brentford (▼3)

The Bees have lost back-to-back matches, most recently falling to Nottingham Forest.

Next match: Feb. 1 at Aston Villa

8. Manchester City (—)

Man City defeated Wolves over the weekend to end a winless slump, but they'll need to do more than beat the last-place side in order to move back up.

Next match: Feb. 1 at Tottenham

9. Fulham (—)

The Cottagers won 2-1 against visiting Brighton, making it two wins from three.

Next match: Feb. 1 at Manchester United

10. Manchester United (2)

The Carrick era has started with a bang as the Red Devils earned another big win over a title-chasing side.

Next match: Feb. 1 vs. Fulham

11. Everton (▼4)

The Toffees drew at home to Leeds, which isn't the worst result in the world. However, their rollercoaster form has led to this drop.

Next match: Jan. 31 at Brighton

12. Brighton (▼1)

It's a slight drop for the Seagulls after losing to Fulham.

Next match: Jan. 31 vs. Everton

13. Sunderland (▲1)

Sunderland lost over the weekend but still rose a bit in these rankings. That's because everyone around them dropped.

Next match: Feb. 2 vs. Burnley

14. Tottenham (▼1)

Winless in five games. We have to wonder what the bottom will be for the Spurs.

Next match: Feb. 1 vs. Manchester City

15. Nottingham Forest (▲2)

They claimed three points at Brentford to extend their undefeated streak to three games.

Next match: Feb. 1 vs. Crystal Palace

16. Wolves (▼1)

Wolverhampton's modest undefeated run came to an end against Man City.

Next match: Jan. 31 vs. Bournemouth

17. Bournemouth (▼1)

The Cherries won last weekend and are a bit hard done by here, but their fate can easily change with a few more positive results.

Next match: Jan. 31 at Wolves

18. West Ham (—)

Two wins in a row for the Hammers! The victories come after a prolonged winless skid, though.

Next match: Jan. 31 at Chelsea

19. Burnley (—)

It's three straight draws now for Burnley. Another way to put it is winless in five.

Next match: Feb. 2 at Sunderland

20. Crystal Palace (—)

The bottom has fallen out for Palace, who keep losing star players to bigger teams and paying the price with their results.

Next match: Feb. 1 at Nottingham Forest
