It's hard to believe, but we're already five matches into the Premier League season.

As the weather cools and more games are added to the history books, we start to get a clearer picture of what to expect from each team, and Matchweek 5 was an incredibly competitive weekend that helped add to the overall narrative.

Of the 10 matches, five ended up as draws and another three were decided by a single goal. It may have been a one-off, but the competitiveness of the league was on full display.

We try to make sense of it all in the latest power rankings, which are not meant to look at the overall picture, but rather to provide a snapshot based on current form, strength of opposition and other factors. As always, these power rankings are based on Premier League play only.

Here are DAZN News' power rankings after Matchweek 5.

1. Liverpool (no change)

Five wins from five matches to start the season. No matter how they got those victories, there's no doubting that the Reds are the form team right now.

Next match: Sept. 27 at Crystal Palace

2. Arsenal (no change)

The Gunners came within minutes of a disastrous loss to Manchester City, but Gabriel Martinelli's latest heroics rescued a point for the club. However, Arsenal were fully deserving of a least a draw, if not more.

Next match: Sept. 28 at Newcastle

3. Manchester City (up 1)

It may be too early to label Pep Guardiola a pragmatist, but he was obviously willing to do whatever it took to secure a victory at Arsenal. It very nearly worked, too.

Next match: Sept. 27 vs Burnley

4. Chelsea (down 1)

A fatal mistake by Robert Sanchez punctuated the Blues' worst performance of the season thus far, as they fell 2-1 at Manchester United.

Next match: Sept. 27 vs Brighton

5. Newcastle (no change)

The Magpies pushed the envelope defensively in their scoreless draw at Bournemouth, but an away point is never a bad thing.

Next match: Sept. 28 vs Arsenal

6. Fulham (no change)

The Cottagers gave up the first goal against Brentford then rang off three unanswered goals as they won comfortably against their overwhelmed visitors.

Next match: Sept. 28 at Aston Villa

7. Nottingham Forest (up 2)

Ange ball was on full display this weekend as Forest peppered Burnley with 17 shots on 64% possession. The end product is still missing as the teams drew 1-1, but you can see the intention.

Next match: Sept. 27 vs Sunderland

8. Brentford (down 1)

Got some early false hope at Fulham only to have it forcefully yanked away.

Next match: Sept. 27 vs Manchester United

9. Tottenham (up 1)

Spurs went blow-for-blow with Brighton and needed to overcome a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw at the Amex.

Next match: Sept. 27 vs Wolves

10. Aston Villa (down 2)

They probably should have won their match at Sunderland, instead settling for a 1-1 draw. At least they scored, though.

Next match: Sept. 28 vs Fulham

11. Everton (up 1)

The Toffees were always second-best in the Merseyside derby, but losing to Liverpool isn't exactly a rarity these days.

Next match: Sept. 29 vs West Ham

12. Crystal Palace (up 2)

Yes, (almost) everybody beats West Ham this season, but Palace could have scored far more goals than they did in their 2-1 win at the London Stadium. And they are still undefeated.

Next match: Sept. 27 vs Liverpool

13. Leeds United (up 4)

They cruelly allowed Wolves to open the scoring early before unleashing three goals in the final 15 minutes of the first half. Yes, everyone beats Wolves, but Leeds will take it.

Next match: Sept. 27 vs Bournemouth

14. Brighton (down 3)

Squandering a two-goal lead to Tottenham was bad enough, but scoring the equalising goal for them as well has to hurt.

Next match: Sept. 27 at Chelsea

15. Manchester United (no change)

The Red Devils rightfully took advantage of a horrible early mistake by Chelsea's goalkeeper that changed the game, and did just enough to hold the Blues off after the match went to 10v10 for the entire second half.

Next match: Sept. 27 at Brentford

16. Bournemouth (down 3)

Not being able to score against Newcastle despite nearly tripling them in shots is an accomplishment the Cherries would have liked to avoid. Still, their ranking here is harsh and is influenced by the nature of their results against lower-ranked sides.

Next match: Sept. 27 at Leeds United

17. Burnley (up 2)

A 1-1 draw against a determined Forest side isn't an awful result, but Burnley need to do more to inspire confidence that they won't continue to be a relegation candidate for the rest of the season.

Next match: Sept. 27 at Manchester City

18. Sunderland (down 2)

The Black Cats hold the distinction of alllowing Aston Villa's only goal of the season thus far. They did hold on for a 1-1 draw despite playing with 10 men for nearly an hour, which is somewhat commendable.

Next match: Sept. 27 at Nottingham Forest

19. West Ham (up 1)

Another uninspiring outing for the Hammers ends in defeat. Rinse and repeat.

Next match: Sept. 29 at Everton

20. Wolves (down 2)

Wolves will likely compete with West Ham for most goals allowed and most losses earned, and their 1-3 defeat to Leeds showed little to change that grim outlook.

Next match: Sept. 27 at Tottenham
