Matchweek 30 of the Premier League still has one more game left to play on Monday, but the bulk of the fixtures are in the books and we can look back at the weekend games that made the most impact.

These include another Arsenal victory, Manchester City's tepid reponse, Manchester United taking hold of third place and Liverpool's surprising draw with struggling Tottenham.

Here are some of the bigger talking points from the weekend.

Arsenal inch closer to title

The Gunners have opened up a nine-point lead atop the Premier League standings after they defeated Everton 2-0 on Saturday, with Man City only able to muster a 1-1 draw at West Ham a few hours later.

Much has been made of City's recent history in title races, with the Sky Blues' absurd late-season record in years past driving the narrative against the backdrop of Arsenal's own recent inability to hold on to the league lead under Mikel Arteta.

However, it feels like the tables have turned during this campaign, with Arsenal showing a steely focus heading into the run-in while City struggles to find consistency.

There's still a lot of football to be played of course, with Pep Guardiola's side holding a game in hand as well.

With that being said, the title race is very much in the Gunners' hands at this point, and it would take an epic collapse to deny them their first Premier League crown in 22 years.

Man Utd continue charge

The Red Devils lost their first match of 2026 in Matchweek 29, but they bounced back with a 3-1 victory over visiting Aston Villa on Sunday, giving them sole possession of third place.

Michael Carrick's perfect record at Old Trafford is still intact and Man United have now collected 22 of 27 points on offer during Carrick's second stint as caretaker manager.

The Red Devils are now on track to qualify for the Champions League, an unthinkable prospect just a few months ago when the club was floundering.

Carrick, however, doesn't want his team thinking about where they will finish. Rather, he wants them to just focus on winning as much as they can.

Liverpool held by Tottenham

The Reds are another team pursuing Champions League football for next season, but they did their cause no favours on Sunday when they allowed Tottenham to walk out of Anfield with a 1-1 draw.

Liverpool squandered the latest Dominik Szoboszlai banger in the stalemate, with Spurs' Brazilian attacker Richarlison scoring in the 90th minute to break Tottenham's five-game losing streak.

A frustrated Szoboszlai called the performance "a huge disappointment" and suggested that Liverpool may be aiming too high with their Champions League aspirations, instead stating that the UEFA Conference League may be more their speed.

Meanwhile, Tottenham rescued a valuable point amid a full-fledged relegation battle. They still have a ton to do to earn safety, and haven't actually won a Premier League game in 2026, but the draw gives them a tiny glimmer of hope that has been completely absent of late.
