Another thrilling weekend of Premier League football has come and gone, adding to the growing story that is the 2025-26 season.
This weekend saw Arsenal maintain their lead atop the standings, Manchester City pull off an improbable comeback, and Manchester United win once again.
Here are some of the bigger talking points from the weekend matches of Matchweek 25.
As mentioned, Arsenal maintained their six-point lead atop the table, but they were minutes away from enjoying an eight or even nine-point advantage.
That's because Man City left it late in a barnburner against Liverpool, scoring twice in the dying moments to overturn the Reds' 1-0 lead and leave Anfield with a 2-1 victory.
The Sky Blues were outplayed for long stretches of the match but Dominik Szoboszlai's fantastic free-kick goal for the Reds seem to wake Pep Guardiola's men up, and they flipped a switch and poured on the attack as the clock ticked down in order to claim victory.
It was a massive result for City, who would have been further adrift from the Gunners if not for goals from Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland.
Instead, they stay within two wins of the league leaders, and Sunday's result gives City the impetus to push forward and attempt to spoil Arsenal's dreams once again.
"I feel the whole team knew before the game if we lost it then the title race was probably over," Silva said. "We felt like we needed to win."
City's late-game heroics this weekend were in stark contrast to the latest Aston Villa result, in which the club limped to a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth.
The Villans are still in third place but it's starting to feel like they are being left behind by Arsenal and Man City at the top of the standings — and also are in danger of being caught by the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Unai Emery's men have not been at their best in several weeks, and things are only going to get tougher as the rest of the top seven teams lock in for the run-in.
As it stands, Villa's likely more concerned with keeping their top four spot than the title race.
One of the more fun stories of the current season is that of Frank Illet, a Man United fan who pledged not to cut his hair until the Red Devils win five matches in a row.
Illet, who goes by @theunitedstrand on Instagram, last cut his hair in October of 2024 and has since grown a substantial coif as Man United have stumbled with mostly uninspired results and performances since then. He has gone viral for his very noticeable locks, prompting jokes from Man United fans and rivals alike, playfully ribbing Illet on the possibilty that he'd never visit a barber shop again.
However, the arrival of Michael Carrick as caretaker manager of the Red Devils has given the follicaly-gifted fan a ray of hope as the team has rung off win after win under the new boss.
Man United's latest victory was a 2-0 result over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, giving the team four straight wins under Carrick. One more and Illet finally gets to cut his hair again.
Illet won't have to wait long to learn the fate of his hair — Man United are next in action on Tuesday at struggling West Ham United.
After defeating Man City, Arsenal, Fulham and Spurs in this unlikely four-game win streak, surely the Red Devils won't stumble against lowly West Ham, will they?
