Real Madrid set to trim squad by using Arbeloa link

The new La Liga season is only a few weeks away and you can see just how Real Madrid are preparing for the campaign with three live games on DAZN. 

The Spanish giants are in action against Fiorentina, Deportivo La Corunna and Schalke, all of which you can see live this month, as they get ready for the second tenure under Jose Mourinho. 

It will be a first chance to see some of the club’s new signings, having brought in Bernardo Silva, Marc Cucurella, Denzil Dumfries and Ibrahima Konate.

However, two names who may not be part of the pre-season preparations are Cesar Palacios and Gonzalo García. 

West London bound 

According to Fabrizio Romano the pair could be part of a double swoop from Premier League side Fulham, now manager by former Madrid boss Alvaro Arbeloa. 

Having been appointed at Craven Cottage in the summer, the former defender has used his contacts at his old club to bag the eye-catching double deal and bring the pair to West London. 

A €10m fee for Palacios is being reported, with Garcia set to move to the Cottagers for an initial €40m and a slew of add-ons. 

22-year-old Garcia scored eight times for Real last season, after making his breakthrough during the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025, where he finished as the competition’s top scorer. 

He also made his international bow earlier this year, making his debut in Spain’s 1-1 pre-World Cup draw with Iraq. 

He’ll now be joined at Fulham by 21-year-old Palacios, who has five first-team appearances under his belt for Madrid having made his debut for the club in January.

The signings would be the London side’s first major signings of the window, having so far only concluded a deal for Bayern Munich teenager Jonah Kusi-Asare.
