Paris St-Germain have already enjoyed arguably the greatest few months in the club’s history, but it could reach new heights in the next seven days.

On Wednesday, Luis Enrique’s men face Real Madrid in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-finals – a game you can watch live and free on DAZN.

Victory there would carry them into the final against Fluminense or Chelsea on Sunday and put PSG on the brink of a magnificent quadruple in 2025.

Could they do it? Right now you would certainly have them down as favourites to go all the way in the biggest and most lucrative Club World Cup ever.

PSG had an amazing 2024-25 season before heading Stateside for this summer’s tournament.

Their stunning 5-0 win over Inter Milan in Munich saw them clinch their first-ever UEFA Champions League title.

That monumental success completed a historic treble for the Parisian side, who already captured the Ligue 1 and Coupe de France trophies during the campaign.

Now, as they bid to add the Club World Cup to their bulging trophy cabinet, it is clear that Enrique is building something special.

They have won a treble and they have done it by playing a thrilling brand of football.

Desire Doue, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembele have been key figures in attack.

There has been a clear departure from PSG’s past approach of assembling superstars like Kylian Mbappé, Neymar and Lionel Messi.

At times that star-studded resembled a disparate collection of unacquainted cogs and wheels.

Under Enrique, though, they have meshed like a well-oiled machine and blossomed into the best team in Europe, noted for their intense, creative and skilful style of play.

That was seen during their opening 4-0 Club World Cup win over Atletico Madrid and in pretty much every game since.

True, there was a 1-0 loss to Botafogo in the second round of group games but they have won four of their five matches so far and conceded just one goal.

Enrique, the former Barcelona player, has put his faith in youth and changed the whole culture of the club, with their success chiselled on relentless work-rate and a collective desire.

Shifting Dembele to a central striking role has paid dividends and he is now rated among the favourites to win this year’s Ballon d’Or.

The France international, 28, joined PSG in August 2023 and this season was his best-ever in front of goal, scoring over 30 times.

Now fully fit again, he scored in the 2-0 quarter-final win over Bayern Munich and will go into the Madrid clash with confidence coursing through his veins.

Dembele has linked up brilliantly with Georgia winger Kvaratskhelia, who arrived from Napoli in January, having previously been linked with Liverpool and Chelsea, and 20-year-old Doue.

As PSG reduced Inter to so much rubble in Munich on May 31, Kvaratskhelia was on target while Doue scored twice.

Kvaratskhelia, 24, can create and score goals from the left wing with his cultured left foot while Doue has a similar impact from the opposite flank.

It is a high-tempo, high-energy strikeforce ably supported by the likes of influential midfielders Vitinha and Joao Neves and France forward Bradley Barcola.

Doue, Kvaratskhelia and Dembele were all prominent when Enrique’s side dumped Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal out of the Champions League en-route to glory in Germany.

When Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk called PSG “the best team I have faced in the last three years,” it said everything about their progress under Enrique.

If they can overcome Madrid on Wednesday, they really start dreaming of achieving something special.
