Matchweek 26 of the Premier League season kicks off with a meeting between Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United in London, with both teams desperate for a positive result.
Tottenham's winless skid in league play has ballooned to seven games, and with each passing match the calls for Thomas Frank to be replaced grow louder. Frank has yet to demonstrate that he can improve a Spurs side that finished 17th last term, and while their current 15th-place position is a marginal increase, there are no signs that things are truly getting better under the current manager.
Things aren't as bad for Newcastle, but manager Eddie Howe is likely feeling some pressure now too as the Magpies have lost three in a row and are winless in four. The skid has dropped Newcastle down to 12th in the standings and a full 11 points back of a Champions League spot.
If Howe's going to inspire an unlikely run back into Europe's top competition, a win against the hapless Spurs would go a long way towards achieving that goal.

“There is no doubt, we are desperate to win games, desperate. I am focusing on Newcastle tomorrow, that's a great opportunity ahead of us against a good team. That's the main thing, of we can go out there and get three points tomorrow, that will be very good and then climb from there and look forward, that's what we need to do and that's the main focus.”

"Everyone is looking for you to set the tone. People want to follow, that's human nature. If you have strength in these moments as a leader you can drag everybody with you and that's why it's important to stand up and show your character and how much it means to you. That's what me and the staff are going to try to do."
Both teams are showing major flaws, which can be exploited and likely will be during the course of this match.
It's hard to see a defensive masterclass unfolding here, so a scoring draw seems to be the safe bet.
Prediction: Tottenham 2-2 Newcastle
