Arsenal fans will just have to wait and see whether Leandro Trossard, Bukayo Saka and captain Martin Odegaard will play in Thursday's match at Brentford.
Mikel Arteta kept his cards close to his chest when asked about the status of the three players during a pre-match press conference on Wednesday, with the Gunners' manager playing coy about their availability for the closing game in the Premier League's Matchweek 26 slate.
Addressing the progress of midfielders Mikel Merino and Max Dowman, Arteta gave the briefest of updates on Trossard, Saka and Odegaard.
"Max is still not available, the rest we will see," Arteta said, adding that teenager Dowman is "doing very well" in recovery from an ankle ailment that has kept him out of action since November. Meanwhile, Merino underwent surgery to repair a broken foot and recovery will take several months.
“I think the doctors were really happy with the way [the surgery] went,” he explained.
“Now it’s the start of obviously a long process, we’re talking about bone healing. So, we’ll respect the timings, and I’m sure he’s going to do everything he possibly can to speed up that recovery.
“The timeframes, we’re talking about months - whether it’s three, four or five, we don’t know.”
Trossard was subbed off in the late stages of Arsenal's 3-0 win over Sunderland on the weekend and isn't expected to miss much time, if any. Saka last appeared in the Gunners' Jan. 25 loss to Manchester United and did not play in any of the team's last four matches, while Odegaard has missed the club's two most recent games.
