C.J. Stroud's 'exceptional' arm talent fuels Texans' Super Bowl hopes

C.J. Stroud's 2025 season ended in the worst way possible, with four first-half interceptions and a dismal 42.6 completion percentage dooming the Houston Texans in the playoffs.

His woeful performance in the Divisional round loss to the Patriots even sparked rumours that he may leave Houston before the Texans shut down trade speculation.

Five months on, his fifth-year option has been exercised, his offensive line has been upgraded, and one teammate has been lauding his quarterback's "exceptional" talent.

Appearing on SiriusXM NFL Radio, tight end Foster Moreau had this to say about his quarterback.

Moreau lauds Stroud's talent and mindset

"His arm talent is exceptional, some of the best I've been able to play with," Moreau said, before turning to a part of Stroud's game that rarely gets mentioned.

"He's underrated with his legs, that cat can move."

Stroud's numbers regressed across the board last year, but Moreau's comments suggest his quarterback is determined to put things right in 2026.

"He's always chasing greatness, always chasing excellence," he said. "I'm excited, especially for what I've seen throughout OTAs, throughout the phase 1, phase 2."

Stroud's leadership qualities evident

Moreau joined the Texans in March 2026, and it took him a while to get a read on Stroud.

"I thought he was a quiet leader for us when I first showed up," he said, "and then we got into the workouts, and we got into the bulk majority of what we actually do as a football team.

"He's vocal, he's loud. He has an expectation, and he has a vision for what he wants our offense to be, what he wants our team to be.

"And he doesn't have a choice. He's a leader for us, regardless of circumstance."

Moreau's not the first of Stroud's teammates to praise his quarterback's leadership this offseason.

Stroud's 2026 outlook: The Super Bowl?

The mentality Moreau spoke of has been evident this offseason, with Stroud voluntarily organising throwing sessions in California with his teammates.

Whether that translates into fewer turnovers in key situations remains up in the air, but at least one NFL insider believes Stroud's prove-it year will end well.

NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe is even backing the Texans for a Super Bowl run.

Whether Wolfe's prediction holds up is anyone's guess, but for a team that watched its season unravel in a single half back in January, that kind of belief is as encouraging as it gets.
