London will host three NFL games in 2026, and the first of the trio of games will see the Washington Commanders host the Indianapolis Colts at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in an exciting Week 4 matchup.

The Commanders' quartet of Jayden Daniels, Terry McLaurin, Chig Okonkwo and Sonny Styles going head-to-head with the Colts' Daniel Jones, Jonathan Taylor, Alec Pierce and Tyler Warren promises plenty of fun.

Two teams that need a big 2026

Neither side had much to shout about last year.

The Colts came out of the gate firing, enjoying a sensational 7-1 start to the year, before quarterback Daniel Jones got injured and their season fell apart.

Shane Steichen's group finished 8-9 for the second year running, meaning they haven't made the playoffs in five seasons.

The Commanders fared even worse, following up their promising 12-5 year in 2024 and an appearance in the Conference Championship game with a disastrous 5-12 record.

Injuries didn't help, but that excuse couldn't save either coordinator, both of whom were let go. Head coach Dan Quinn remains, going into his third year, but if Washington don't rebound, questions will be asked.

Two QBs out to prove a point

Colts' quarterback Daniel Jones started last year well before tearing his Achilles. Indianapolis clearly believe he can bounce back after choosing to hand him a two-year, $88 million deal ahead of free agency.

It bodes well that he has been fully cleared for training camp.

Commanders' gunslinger Jayden Daniels endured a torrid second season after earning Offensive Rookie of the Year honours in 2024.

He played in just seven games, finished only four, and suffered three different injuries. At least the dual-threat dynamo needed no surgery in the offseason.

With that said, new OC David Blough wants Daniels under center more in a more balanced offense. It will be interesting to see how the 25-year-old responds.

New faces, fresh ambitions

The Colts spent big in the offseason, signing wide receiver Alec Pierce to a mammoth extension and spending big on cornerback Charvarius Ward and safety Camryn Bynum to transform their secondary.

Indianapolis may have splashed the cash, but few teams made as many free agent signings as the Commanders.

Tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo, linebacker Leo Chenal, safety Nick Cross, and defensive tackle Tim Settle headlined the new arrivals, and offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil remained in Washington after putting pen to paper on a two-year, $52.65 million fully guaranteed extension.

Both draft classes add intrigue. CJ Allen, the second-round linebacker out of Georgia, is expected to start at MIKE from day one for Indy.

Washington spent the seventh overall selection on Sonny Styles, the Ohio State linebacker with a near-perfect relative athletic score at the combine. He's likely the Bobby Wagner replacement, with all the pressure that brings.

Emilee Chinn

Third-round wideout Antonio Williams could push into the rotation early as a slot option for Daniels alongside McLaurin.

Colts vs. Commanders: Key matchups

Daniels, McLaurin and Okonkwo vs. Indy's secondary

A healthy Daniels is a huge headache for any defense as both a runner and passer, meaning Ward, Bynum and Co. must be ready for anything.

The two newcomers will join Sauce Gardner, a midseason acquisition from the Jets last year, as they do their utmost to stifle what the Commanders throw at the secondary.

McLaurin took nearly a third of Washington's targets when he was available in 2025, and Daniels knows that reestablishing their chemistry is vital in 2026. If those two click early, it may be a long afternoon for the Colts' secondary.

Jones, Taylor, Pierce and Warren vs. Washington's defense

With Michael Pittman taking his talents to Pittsburgh, Pierce becomes the presumptive No. 1, and his field-stretching ability will make him a handful for Washington's corners.

The 26-year-old led the league last year with an average of 21.3 yards per catch, but it remains to be seen if he'll be as explosive to start 2026 after landing on the PUP list ahead of training camp.

Then there's Taylor, one of the fastest running backs in the league, capable of ripping off huge chunks on the ground, assuming he can avoid the dreaded injury bug, which cost him 16 games between 2022 and 2024.

If Taylor reaches the second level, Styles and his linebacker teammate Frankie Luvu will be on mop-up duty. And assuming Jones is given the time to find his pass-catchers, this Colts offense could cause some real damage.

Can Washington's pass rush rattle Jones?

Von Miller led Washington in sacks last year, but he's no longer on the roster. That being said, the younger, revamped Commanders' pass rush looks every bit as capable in 2026.

Odafeh Oweh, K'Lavon Chaisson, and Dorance Armstrong come into this game hungry and with a point to prove.

If Commanders' right tackle Josh Conerly Jr. remains the starter, Jones may find himself under serious pressure. In his rookie year, Conerly allowed the sixth-most sacks among all NFL offensive tackles.

Colts vs. Commanders: Series record

The Colts lead the all-time series 21-13-0, but Washington eked out a narrow 17-16 win when the two sides last met in 2022.

Indianapolis come into this one as the bookies' favourites, but London has a habit of creating upsets. It's really anyone's game, and that makes it all the more exciting.
