The Dallas Cowboys are entering the 2026 NFL Draft with two first-round picks and a creative approach about how they intend to use them.
GM and owner Jerry Jones, discussing the topic on the team website, outlined how Dallas' enviable draft capital allows him to go into April 23 with an open mindset.
“We have two first-round picks, and we’re absolutely open to trading up, trading down, or staying right where we are. We’ll look at all options. That’s the way we’re approaching it.
"There’s no one path we’re locked into. We have some flexibility, and we’re going to take advantage of it.”
The Cowboys own their original 12th overall selection, in addition to the 20th, which they acquired in the headline trade that sent Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers last season.
Jones added context on why it matters: “It allows us to see how the board falls, to see what other teams do, and then make decisions based on where we can get the most value.
"We’re not locked in; we can be patient and aggressive as the situation calls for it.”
Here at DAZN, we believe Dallas will double down on defense by adding at least one player in the secondary and another at linebacker.
With roster holes still to address and a roster that needs several new additions, Jones' mindset could be the difference between a good draft and a game-changing one.
Expect other teams to come calling on draft night now that the Cowboys have put the word out.
