Indiana Head Coach Curt Cignetti became the first college football coach to win back-to-back The Associated Press Coach of the Year award.

Cignetti is the fourth coach to capture the award twice, joining Brian Kelly, Gary Patterson, and Nick Saban. He notched 47 first-place votes with Texas Tech's Joey McGuire and Vanderbilt's Clark Lea each netting two votes apiece, while Virginia's Tony Elliott received one vote.

Cignetti led the Hoosiers to a 13-0 record, winning the Big Ten championship for the first time since 1967, beating Ohio State 13-10 to win the conference championship game to vault Indiana to the No. 1 ranking in the College Football Playoffs. Also, Cignetti helped guide quarterback Fernando Mendoza to being the Heisman Trophy winner.

In his two seasons at Indiana, the 64-year-old Cignetti is 24-2.

The first round of the 2025 College Football Playoffs begins this Friday, with several games streaming live and free on DAZN. The Hoosiers will play on January 1 in the Rose Bowl against the winner of Alabama and Oklahoma.
