Cardinals QB Jacoby Brissett ends holdout amid unresolved contract dispute

Quarterback Jacoby Brissett is expected to make an appearance at the Cardinals facility for the start of mandatory minicamp, effectively ending his holdout.

The 33-year-old hasn't shown up for any of the voluntary sessions, sending a message that he wants a new, improved deal.

Per ESPN's Josh Weinfuss and Jeremy Fowler, the team's presumed starter will return to the field on Tuesday.

The numbers behind why Brissett held out

Brissett's current deal pays $4.88 million, with $1.5 million guaranteed, and he's made it clear that those numbers fall short of his expectations.

For context, Gardner Minshew, who signed in free agency in March as a backup, is set to earn $5.14 million in 2026.

However you cut it, Brissett has outplayed his current contract.

After stepping in for the injured Kyler Murray with a series of impressive performances, he threw for 3,366 yards, 23 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions.

The Cardinals went 1-11 in those games, but it's hard to pin the blame on Brissett's shoulders, considering Arizona's defense ranked 30th with 488 points allowed.

What happens next for Brissett?

Despite holding out, Brissett goes into minicamp as the team's QB1, with Minshew and third-round rookie Carson Beck behind him on the depth chart.

How much work Brissett remains up in the air, with sources telling ESPN that his on-field involvement is uncertain.
