Joe Burrow added to active roster; will start for Bengals vs. Ravens

Joe Burrow will be making his highly anticipated return on Thursday for the Cincinnati Bengals against the Baltimore Ravens, which you can watch with NFL Game Pass on DAZN (excl. the US and China).

On Wednesday, the Bengals announced that Burrow is back on the 53-man roster and then subsequently released a post on social media saying he'll be starting on Thanksgiving Day. 

Burrow has been out since suffering a turf toe injury in Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, which required surgery on his big toe on his left foot. The recovery timeline was 12 weeks, but Burrow was very aggressive in his rehab as he wanted to come back and play this season despite the Bengals currently sporting a 3-8 record. And what better time to return than against a vaunted rival in the Ravens?

"It's a national stage to go out and prove yourself again after not playing for several weeks," Burrow said Tuesday. "Every opportunity that you get to go and all the hard work that you've put in the type of player you are, is something that I try to take advantage of."

Burrow could have played on Sunday in their Week 12 matchup against the New England Patriots, but head coach Zak Taylor wanted to give his star QB a little more practice time.

"It felt good to get some live reps, both scout team and first team," Burrow said Tuesday. "I think that'll serve me well this week.

"Having a full week where you're expecting to play, and you're going through your preparation like you're going to play and then that doesn't happen, but it's good to have that under your belt."
