College football season format

All teams play 12 regular season games between August and November, most of which are on Saturdays, with Conference Championship games in December.

That is followed by more than 40 Bowls, the College Football Playoffs (CFP), and the National Championship final in January.

There will also be a game in Ireland and the UK this year, with the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs taking on the University of North Carolina Tar Heels in Dublin for the Aer Lingus College Football Classic, and the Kansas Jayhawks facing Arizona State at Wembley Stadium in the inaugural Union Jack Classic.

The regular season runs from November to March, before March Madness sees 76 teams play seven rounds in three intense weeks.*

Both the Men's and Women's tournaments run simultaneously, with games played almost every day.
