After being named this season’s MVP at the 2026 NFL Honors, Los Angeles Rams' QB Matthew Stafford made it clear he’s not done just yet, announcing: “I’ll see you guys next year.”

Joined on stage by his four children for his acceptance speech at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, Stafford continued with a line that struck a chord with Rams fans.

"Hopefully I''m not at this event and we're getting ready for another game at SoFi [Stadium]"

The Los Angeles Rams quarterback was, of course, referring to the possibility of playing in Super Bowl LXI in 2027, which will be held at the Rams' home stadium in Los Angeles.

Retirement rumours followed Stafford for much of the season, but the way he carried the Rams, and the way they surged through the playoffs, made the idea of him walking away feel almost impossible to justify.

Los Angeles looked like a genuine contender for long stretches, and came within one game of reaching the Super Bowl before falling to the Super Bowl-bound Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game.

Stafford led the league in passing touchdowns (46) and passing yards (4,707), and finished with the best touchdown-to-interception ratio after throwing just eight picks in the regular season.

He’s only the second quarterback in the past 50 years to lead the NFL in all three categories in a single season: the other being Tom Brady in 2007.

Stafford narrowly edged New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye in the MVP vote, securing the award by just one first-place vote in the tighest of margins.

Now, with Stafford choosing to run it back, the message is simple: with Sean McVay driving the bus and No. 9 still slinging it, the Rams are coming back to finish the job.
