NFL Championship Sunday kicked off in Denver, where the AFC's two best teams squared off as the Broncos hosted the Patriots on NFL Game Pass on DAZN (excl. the US and China).
The game started in clear conditions and ended up a snowy mess. But it was the Patriots who ended up pulling through and will return to the Super Bowl for the first time since the 2018 season, defeating the Broncos 10-7.
The conditions weren't ideal for either team. It came down to making a field goal. Patriots kicker Andy Borregales went 1 for 3, but his 23-yard field goal with 5:29 left in the third quarter proved to be the difference. Broncos kicker Will Lutz missed both of his attempts, including a 46-yard attempt with 4:46 left in the game.
Drake Maye, who becomes the second youngest quarterback to start in the Super Bowl behind Dan Marino, only went 10 of 21 passing for 86 yards. But it was his 10 rushes for 65 yards and a touchdown that made the difference. The last rush sealed the game as his seven-yard scramble on third down clinched the game, and now the Patriots (17-3) will be looking to win their seventh Super Bowl.
Broncos (15-4) backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham struggled, going 17 of 31 for 133 with one touchdown and one interception.
