Seattle Seahawks rejoice after Super Bowl LX victory: 'We have the best team'

The Lombardi Trophy is coming back to Seattle after the Seahawks controlled Super Bowl LX from start to finish, defeating the New England Patriots 29-13.

Kenneth Walker III was named the Super Bowl MVP with 161 total yards (135 rushing, 26 receiving). He kept the Seahawks offense going when, at times, they struggled to move the football. 

"We went through a lot of adversity this season," Walker told NBC's Maria Taylor while receiving the MVP trophy. "We came together. We stuck together. Shoutout to the 12’s."

Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold didn't play his best game of the season, going 19 of 38 for 202 yards with one touchdown. But he came through in the clutch with a key 16-yard touchdown pass to AJ Barner that gave Seattle a 19-0 lead near the end of the third quarter and essentially put Super Bowl LX out of reach. 

None of this seemed plausible a couple of years ago for the former USC quarterback. Darnold was bouncing around from team to team until he finally found a home in Seattle this past year in free agency.

"It’s unbelievable," Darnold said. "Everything that’s happened in my career. But to do this with this team, I wouldn’t want it any other way. So proud of our guys. I can’t say enough great things about our defense."

Seahawks head coach Mike McDonald almost gave up coaching to work a 9-5 job. However, McDonald stuck it out and ended up getting the top spot in Seattle two seasons ago. Now, McDonald joins a rare group who have won the NFL's ultimate prize.

"We have the best team," McDonald said. "12 is one. Mob ties. We got the best fans in the world. Look at how many 12’s are in the stadium right now. We never wavered. We love each other. We believe in each other. And now we are world champions."
