Throughout the buildup of the Chris Eubank Jr.-Conor Benn rematch, the latter told anyone who would listen that he planned to end this rivalry and segue from middleweight down to welterweight to challenge for a 147-pound world title.

After making good on phase one of that plan by exacting revenge in thoroughly dominating Eubank Jr. via unanimous decision, Benn immediately set his sights on a couple of welterweight titleholders and two other fighters with big names.

“I fancy [Mario] Barrios for the WBC world title,” a victorious Benn began telling DAZN in the ring at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, and live on DAZN Pay-Per-View.

“Ryan Garcia, Rolly Romero, Devin Haney,” Benn added, “all of them Yanks can get it any day of the week and twice on Sundays.”

Of the fighters he named, Barrios and WBA titleholder Rolando Romero are champions. Haney challenges WBO titleholder Brian Norman at Ring IV on November 22, live on DAZN Pay-Per-View.

Benn, who dropped Eubank Jr. twice in the 12th round of their rematch, not only ended their rivalry but sent an instant message to the welterweight division in the process.

Many critics believed Benn’s emotions got the best of him during his unanimous decision loss to Eubank Jr. in April, though the former made sure to author a different narrative in rounds 13 through 24 on Saturday night.

From the opening bell, Benn, 29, to Eubank Jr.’s 36, proved to be the faster, stronger, and better boxer, splitting his nemesis’ guard and landing shots at will, leaving Eubank Jr. looking flat and staring at Father Time in the mirror.

“Well, everyone’s saying I can’t box,” Benn said. “Put that in your pipe and smoke it. How about that?”

Fresh off the best performance of his career, Benn (24-1, 14 KOs), closing out this rivalry with such a masterful performance, will certainly pave the way for an intriguing 2026.

“He’s just filled Tottenham twice,” his Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn said, “and now he’s going to go fight for a world title.”
