Andy Cruz believes Keyshawn Davis should beat Jamaine Ortiz, but warned his former rival must "improve on his attitude".

The American features on the undercard of The Ring 6 at Madison Square Garden in his super-lightweight debut this month.

Cruz and Davis were regular rivals at the amateur level, with the former defeating the latter en route to Olympic gold at Tokyo 2020.

The latter is out to rebuild his reputation after a collapsed bout with Edwin De Los Santos ended his WBO lightweight reign last year.

Introducing DAZN Ultimate Tier

Speaking ahead of his own title bout with Raymond Muratalla this weekend, Cruz admits that his old foe needs to adjust his approach.

"I think it’s gonna be a really good fight," he told The Ring. "Jamaine Ortiz is a quality fighter. Technically, he’s very sound.

"But I believe that Keyshawn Davis has a great amount of talent. If he prepares, he should win. He didn't show that last time.

“I think he needs to improve on his attitude. He has that arrogance about him. Maybe he underestimated opponents at times.

"I think an athlete needs to be professional both in and out of the ring. But I hope he can close this chapter and [move] on."
