Barboza (32-1-0, 11 KOs) hasn't fought since May last year, when he lost a unanimous decision to then-WBO champion Teofimo Lopez at Times Square. It was the 34-year-old's first defeat, and he looks to get back to winning ways in Saturday's welterweight contest against Sims (22-3-1, 8 KOs), who is also coming off a loss.

Sims' most recent outing was against Oscar Duarte in August 2025, with the latter claiming a majority decision victory at the University of Illinois. Prior to that, Sims had won nine fights in a row.
