Billy Joe Saunders is plotting a return.

Billy Joe Saunders is plotting a ring return after being out of action for over two years since he was beaten by Canelo Alvarez in 2021.

That night, Saunders was performing well against the brilliant Mexican before damage to his eye forced him to stay on the stool as Canelo continued his dominance at 168lbs.

Despite that setback being the only loss of Saunders’ successful career, the Brit has still not put the gloves on since.

Still a big name in the sport due to his achievements and rivalries with numerous boxers, Saunders is hoping to bounce back from his only defeat, but is Canelo the hardest puncher he’s faced?

The answer is no.

“I remember tying him up and pushing him back and I remember thinking ‘you know what, I am just going to put my hand up here,’ a bit of kidology like ‘go on, go on,’” said Saunders when talking about Canelo to Keep a Lukeout podcast

“I was waiting to get hit like I did against David Lemieux, when I boxed him, I tested some power on my arm, and I thought ‘f--k me.’ I’ve never felt anyone punch as hard as he punches.”
