DAZN News brings you the top boxing stories from around the world on Monday, February 16.

Ajagba back on the wining trail

Efe Ajagba bounced back to winning ways when stopping former world champion Charles Martin in the fourth round in Las Vegas on Sunday.

The Nigerian (now 21-1-1, 15 KOs) dropped the former IBF ruler in the third and fourth rounds, before forcing referee Thomas Taylor to save Martin from further punishment later in the fourth session.

Following his draw with Martin Bakole in May last year, last night’s victory saw Ajagba return to winning form and he expressed his desire to fight any of the leading contenders in the aftermath.

Dana White escalates war of words with Eddie Hearn

Following Ajagba’s knockout victory over Martin, Dana White fired further shorts at Eddie Hearn in the post-fight press conference.

The pair have had some back-and-forth since White entered the sport with his Zuffa Boxing promotional outfit and he had some choice words for his rival after Hearn labelled Jai Opetaia vs. Brandon Glanton for a Zuffa cruiserweight title as “cringe”.

“I saw Eddie Hearn saying that the belt is cringey and all that stuff,” White told the media in Las Vegas.

“I don’t think anybody looks at Eddie Hearn and says ‘oh this guy is a visionary’ - the guy’s been in boxing forever.

“I look at him like most politicians - you’ve done nothing in the sport except stay in the lane, play by all the rules and ride right along. You ended up becoming part of the problem, is what happened.”

Parker appeals failed VADA test

Joseph Parker has lodged an appeal after his positive test for cocaine on the night of his defeat to Fabio Wardley for WBO interim heavyweight title.

Parker was stopped in the 11th round by Wardley, who was subsequently upgraded to full WBO champion, and the result signalled the end of an impressive six-fight winning streak by the New Zealand man.

The appeal comes before the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) have issued any suspension period and the legal response was confirmed by Parker’s trainer, Andy Lee.

Lee told Boxing News: “There has been an internal investigation as a team. His manager, David Higgins and I, and other people in the team.

“This is not for me to say right now, but it will come out. We are working with lawyers in the UK and appealing the decision.”
