A new world champion and Usyk confirms final fights: What we learned from boxing last week

Ultimate Tier: PPVs & 185 fight nights included

Two cards on both sides of the Atlantic brought a close to another eventful week in the world of boxing.

Here DAZN News picks the biggest stories from the past seven days in the sweet science.

Anthony Cacace becomes two-time world champion

Dublin's 3Arena was a raucous venue on Saturday night with a huge Queensberry fight card.

The main event saw Jazza Dickens make the first defence of his WBA super featherweight title against Anthony Cacace, a man at the peak of his powers.

Cacace dominated the 12-round affair and was declared the winner by unanimous decision.

A world champion once more, 'The Apache' is eager to make unification fights at 130lbs.

Usyk reveals final three fights before retirement

Oleksandr Usyk has begun training camp for his May 23 clash with kickboxing legend Rico Verhoeven, and has revealed that he will fight three more times before retiring.

Appearing on Inside the Ring, Usyk revealed the other two opponents he will face before hanging up the gloves.

Ultimate Tier - heavyweight season

"Rico is first, second is whoever wins between Wardley and Dubois and the third fight is my friend 'Greedy Belly', Tyson Fury," Usyk said.

Usyk will know who he will face out of Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois on May 9 when the pair meet for the WBO heavyweight title, live on DAZN.

Arnold Barboza dominates in welterweight debut

Arnold Barboza Jr. bounced back from last year's loss to Teofimo Lopez with a comprehensive win in Anaheim on Saturday night.

Barboza was making his welterweight debut against Kenneth Sims Jr. and it looks like the changes to his team have worked perfectly.

From the opening to the final bell, Sims struggled to cause any problems with Barboza keeping his opponent at a safe range.

After 12 rounds, all three judges gave the victory to Barboza with scores of 117-111, 118-110 and 120-108.

Oscar Collazo and Gabriela Fundora steal the show

World champions Oscar Collazo and Gabriela Fundora stole the show when they fought on the Barboza-Sims Jr. undercard.

Collazo was defending his WBA and WBO strawweight titles, and he battered his opponent, Jesus Haro, into submission with the American retiring on his stool at the end of sixth.

Meanwhile, Fundora lived up to her promise of stealing the show, making a successful defence of her women's flyweight title against Viviana Ruiz Corredor.

A knockdown in round four spelled the beginning of the end for Corredor who was stopped two sessions later.

When it comes to what the future holds for Fundora, a move up to super flyweight is looking increasingly likely.
