Opetaia hopes for IBF about-face

Jai Opetaia hopes the IBF will commit an about-face on their decision to no longer sanction his Zuffa bout with Brandon Glanton.

The Australian had been due to defend his major title in his first challenge for the latter's new cruiserweight crown in Las Vegas.

Instead, he is due to be stripped of his status after the governing body withdrew their support, though he hopes for a late change.

Opetaia paraded his IBF belt at Saturday's weigh-in following the news, with The Ring suggesting he hopes the course is reversed.

Mitchell calls out Whittaker

Misfits star Ty Mitchell issued a call-out for Ben Whittaker after he deposed Gabriel Rosado in fine fashion at MF Duel 2 on Saturday.

The former secured another win under the promotional banner to further his light-heavyweight credentials, and made a quick call-out.

"Ben's a fighter, he'll fight anybody," he told IFLTV. "But I know Eddie's put a lot of money into him. Eddie Hearn, stop being scared."

Whittaker last fought in November when he dispatched Benjamin Gavazi inside one round on his Matchroom debut under Hearn.

Catterall eyes Benn battle

Conor Benn's move to Zuffa will see him take on Regis Prograis next month as he works his way back down to the welterweight class.

But should his opponent drop out, former world title challenger Jack Catterall has already thrown his hat in the ring for a dance instead.

The British pair have been linked to a clash before, with the latter seeking to establish further success in the 147-pound division this year.

"If Regis pulls out, I’m ready on a weeks notice," Catterall wrote on X, tagging The Ring backer His Excellency Turki Alalshikh in his post.
