Canelo Alvarez returns to action in September when he faces Terence Crawford in a huge blockbuster clash.
As well as the Crawford showdown on his horizon, the Mexican is also linked to several other fights in the future with numerous big names in the mix to face him.
One potential option for Canelo, and a fight that refuses to go away, is a battle against Jake Paul.
The popular YouTuber has become one of boxing’s biggest attractions in recent years and his fight with Mike Tyson at the backend of 2024 was a huge commercial success.
Despite not testing himself against boxing’s best names, Paul is constantly teasing bouts against them and that includes Canelo.
This weekend, Paul faces Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, live on DAZN, and victory over the former world champion will no doubt see him call out some of the sport's most dominant fighters.
Tony Bellew, a former world ruler himself, has long been critical of Paul's credentials inside the ring and he gives the American zero chance of causing an upset against someone like Canelo.
Bellew, who gatecrashed Paul’s press conference with Tyson and mocked him for facing veteran fighters, has stated that Canelo would have it easy against Paul
“He would fight him, 100% for the money. He'd flatten Jake Paul. It'd take him about 30 seconds. And the only reason it'd take 30 seconds is because he'd probably be laughing for 20,” said Bellew when speaking to Casinoapps.com.
"He could do whatever he wants to Jake Paul. You have to understand the level that Canelo Alvarez operates at a different level to what 90% of boxers operate at.”
