Canelo vs Crawford - Major Carl Froch rival makes big fight prediction

George Groves has a deep history in the super-middleweight division, and he will be watching intently when two of boxing’s biggest names clash in his old weight class later this month. 

On September 13, Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford will collide in one of the year’s grandest fights as the former puts his undisputed title on the line against the Nebraska man .  

Crawford has been chasing a showdown with Canelo since he defeated Errol Spence back in 2023 and he will jump up two weight categories in his pursuit of glory. 

Canelo begins the fight a decent favourite largely due to his size and experience, but throughout the boxing community, everyone is split on what the potential outcome will be. 

Crawford certainly has his backers, but that is the same for Canelo who will be looking to add to his legacy with another huge win at 168lbs. 

George Groves, a former world champion who endured a brutal rivalry with Carl Froch, is fully aware of what it takes to reign as super-middleweight ruler, and despite being a big admirer of Crawford, he is leaning towards Canelo. 

“When the fight was made, I was just like, yeah Crawford's amazing, but Canelo's too big. And Canelo isn’t finished just yet. But Crawford backs himself. I'm sure he'll have a game plan,” said Groves when speaking to Adventure Gamers . 

“Whether it works or not, he might be that bit sharper than Canelo’s used to. And I’m sure Crawford has been sitting at home for years now, wanting Canelo, thinking he can beat him. I still think Alvarez will win this fight.”
