Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn locked into each other's eyes one last time before their highly anticipated rematch on Saturday from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, live and exclusive on DAZN PPV.
Unlike the weigh-in back in April, there was no drama between Eubank and Benn. Eubank came in at 159.1 pounds while Benn weighed in a shade heavier than his foe at 159.3.
DAZN News takes a look at what we noticed from the weigh-in that could have some type of impact come Saturday evening.
That was a question on the back of our minds when Friday morning approached. There was no way Eubank would miss weight like he did in April by 0.2 pounds and having to give Benn £375,000 ($500,000). But Eubank quelled those thoughts and put everyone's minds at ease, coming in at 159.1.
To my surprise, Eubank's body still looked tight a couple of hours later at the ceremonial weigh-ins. Did he cut too much weight? Not enough water? Something to think about when we see him in the ring before the opening bell sounds as a body that tight is typically a sign of dehydration.
In the lead-up to the rematch, Eubank admitted he underestimated Benn. It showed at times during the road to the first fight, which parlayed itself at times during fight night. Seeing the weigh-in, Eubank looked more determined and focused.
Eubank was staring a hole through Benn for the entire intense staredown. At the end, Benn blinked first and moved off the staredown. Even when Benn walked away, Eubank still turned his head slightly and continued to glare a hole through Benn. Have never seen Eubank like this, and it should help him be more disciplined when the bell sounds to begin the fight.
"I’m feeling good. Everything is on track for a Chris Eubank Jr. KO win," Eubank boldly predicted after the weigh-in.
It's easy to understand why Benn was in a rage of fury seven months ago. Fast forward, and it's a whole new Conor Benn. His mindset is good, he's jovial, smiling from ear to ear, and ready to put on a show.
"I’m just excited to get in there and do the business. Put on a great show for the fans. It’s a blessing," Benn said at the weigh-in.
That mindset should lead to a Benn who doesn't expend too much energy and drain himself in the opening half of the fight. That cost him in April when the fight reached the stretch run. This time around, if we are seeing Benn like we think we are, it should be an exciting second half of the fight.
