How Christmas movie starring Hugh Grant inspired Eddie Hearn's Eubank Jr vs Benn press conference antics
Eddie Hearn took inspiration from the cinema for his curve ball tactic on Thursday evening.
During the final press conference for the highly anticipated rematch between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn, the promoter went full on “Love Actually” as he addressed the crowd with cue cards in similar fashion to a famous scene from the 2003 holiday film.
In the classic flick, the character played by Andrew Lincoln declares his love to Keira Knightley’s character through the medium of cue cards, so the latter’s husband doesn’t hear.

Hearn's amusing approach was in response to Eubank Jr. constantly talking over him at previous media events and insisting the Matchroom boss kept quiet.
Eubank Jr. got his wish this time but it may have been Hearn who had the last laugh as the stunt went down well with the assembled media.
The cards read: "Good evening all!
"I know it upsets Chris when I speak. So I've taken a new approach.
"Thank you to His Excellency for his continued support. Last April we witnessed a British classic. Both men gave us a fight we will never forget.
"But for now, let me just say... just because it's fight week (and we always tell the truth)... to me, Conor Benn is perfect. He's ready for the performance of his career.
"So, get ready for another epic war. Make sure you all tune in. Live worldwide on DAZN."
