Nobody has figured out the puzzle known as Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) across two weight divisions. Not Anthony Joshua on two occasions. Not Tyson Fury on also two occasions. And not Daniel Dubois in August 2023.
But Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) gets a crack at redemption to crack the Rubik's Cube as he battles Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world on Saturday from Wembley Stadium in London, England, live on DAZN PPV.
Dubois almost knocked down Usyk in the first fight two years ago. In the fifth round, Usyk appeared to go down from a body shot. However, the referee ruled it a low blow. Usyk sent Dubois down in the eighth round and finished him off one round later. Nearly two years later, Dubois looks like a completely different fighter in knocking out Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic, and Anthony Joshua in succession. "Dynamite" feels Usyk's time is over, and his time is now.
"Right now, I just want to get it on," Dubois said at Thursday's press conference. "I'm going to write my own script now. They've (Usyk) got their own script. I'm going to write my own script. I'm going to win these belts and I'm going to be the man."
The 27-year-old Dubois understands what is at stake and what a win over Usyk would truly mean.
"I'm chasing glory and I'm chasing greatness," Dubois also said at the press conference.
