Dave Allen names the hardest puncher he has faced and it is not Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, or Oleksandr Usyk

Dave Allen enjoyed one of the biggest wins of his career this past weekend when he knocked out Johnny Fisher in the fifth round

The result came just five months after the pair fought in Saudi Arabia, a fight where Fisher got the nod despite many believing Allen had done enough.

The result, which caused a small shock, now sees Allen back on the heavyweight radar just a couple of years after his run in the sport appeared to be over

At his peak, Allen was a capable contender who enjoyed numerous solid wins, but his path to the top was often obstructed as he failed to get over the line in significant fights against the likes of David Price and Dillian Whyte.

As well as sharing the ring with quality operators for real, Allen has also sparred some of boxing’s biggest names as his toughness and resilience was a useful attribute to have when elite fighters wanted to bring in solid names.

Allen has taken punches from Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, and Oleksandr Usyk, but what fighter does he credit for having the most power?

“I think for one punch power, Derek Chisora. Obviously, I don’t think he was the best, but in terms of one-punch power and brute force, it is him,” said Allen when speaking to talkSPORT

“His right hand was very heavy. Not the quickest and not much disguise to it. I could see it coming, and I could brace for it, but I felt it, that is for sure.

“He’s a different kind of puncher to someone like Anthony Joshua. Joshua is a lot faster and crisper. Chisora is more concussive. Joshua caused me more problems in sparring, but in terms of raw power, it is Chisora.”
