WBO welterweight champion Devin Haney is reportedly in the latter stages of talks for a fight against WBA titleholder Rolando 'Rolly' Romero.
As reported by Boxing Scene, the American pair are in "serious conversations" for a May 30 bout at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Haney became a three-weight world champion in November when he beat Brian Norman Jr. for the WBO's 147lb belt, while Romero was elevated to the WBA's champion at welterweight following Jaron Ennis' decision to vacate.
In a post on X, Romero confirmed that talks are advancing for a meeting with Haney.
On his personal account, Romero revealed that he has signed his part of the deal and called Haney and his father Bill "soft and full of lies".
"No more ball back in this court or that court," Romero wrote.
"I'm signed, sealed and delivered. Big boy deal. The Haney's have always been soft and full of lies.
"I'm going to end y'all for good."
An official linked with the talks also said the following to Boxing Scene about the progress of a deal for a Haney-Romero clash.
"It's a fight we're trying to make happen. It's a fight I hope we can make."
Haney and Romero have a common foe in Ryan Garcia.
Romero managed to beat Garcia in Times Square last year, while Haney's chaotic meeting with 'King Ry' initially ended in defeat before being ruled a no-contest after Garcia failed a drug test.
