Perhaps the best welterweight fight of 2025 will go down on Saturday at The Ring IV: Night of the Champions from the ANB Arena as Brian Norman Jr. puts the WBO welterweight on the line against former two-division world champion Devin Haney, live and exclusive on DAZN PPV.
Norman's (28-0, 22 KOs) had a sensational 2025 with a third-round stoppage win over Derrieck Cuevas in March and then the likely knockout of the year in June over Jin Sasaki in the fifth round. Haney (32-0-1, 15 KOs) has only fought once, getting his April 2024 loss to Ryan Garcia overturned a no-contest after the latter failed a drug test, a unanimous decision win over Jose Ramirez at the beginning of May.
Fights could have been made with different opponents. For Haney, there was one reason in particular he wanted to face Norman.
"I mean, he's the best guy right now at 147 pounds," Haney admitted to DAZN's Chris Mannix during his face-off with Norman. "He was the best guy that was willing to step up and fight me. So, here we are."
When Haney was broached to Norman, he didn't even flinch and agreed without hesitation.
"It's just who I am as a person," Norman told Mannix. "I love fighting the best. Like everybody say, he has the perfect style to beat me. I don't have feet. I don't have defense necessarily speaking. Jab defense. So, he has the blueprint to beat me."
Norman knows he's got a point to prove and plans on showing the world.
"Now, I got to show y'all that I can do everything," Norman said.
David Benavidez vs. Anthony Yarde headlines a star-studded Ring IV fight card in Riyadh on Saturday, November 22. Watch it exclusively on DAZN PPV.
