Eddie Hearn gives his dream PBC vs. Matchroom fights
On Thursday, it was announced that Premier Boxing Champions is joining DAZN, with the first two shows being Errol Spence Jr. vs. Tim Tszyu on Saturday, July 25, and Rolly Romero against Teofimo Lopez. Both fights are set to be on DAZN on Prime Video PPV.
PBC joins the expansive stable of promotions on DAZN with the likes of Matchroom Boxing, Golden Boy Promotions, Top Rank and Queensberry Promotions. The first promoter to put his stable of fighters on the global home of boxing, Eddie Hearn, is excited that another top-notch promotion is coming to DAZN.
"It's more incredible news for DAZN," the chairman of Matchroom Boxing told DAZN News. "You know it's quite remarkable that they basically now have deals in place with every major promotional company in the world.
"We're extremely proud because we were the first ones and their biggest partner. We're their only global partner across various different markets. PBC are a powerhouse. [Al] Haymon is a very successful, intelligent guy. Luis de Cubas, who kind of runs the ship there, I think he's one of the best operators in boxing."

Through the years, Hearn's worked with PBC matchmakers. At times, fights were difficult to make with PBC because of them and Matchroom being under different broadcaster umbrellas. Hearn envisions some dream fights that can now be made with PBC, considering the obstacles are no longer in the way.
"We go back years and years making fights, all the way back to the Charles Martin fight for AJ, which was kind of like the big fight that we made that sort of launched AJ's success," Hearn said.
"They've got so many fighters that we work with and deal with. So many great fighters. You've got coming up, Errol Spence against Tim Tszyu.
"He's (Spence) a guy at 154 pounds that you could see in the mix with Josh Kelly and Jaron Ennis, our champions at 154. You've got Carlos Adames, who beat Ammo Williams recently, the [WBC] middleweight world champion.
"Obviously, you've got Gervonta Davis, and when he returns will still remain one of the biggest stars in the sport. You've got David Benavidez, who I think's one of the top young fighters in the sport.
"There's a big fight between him and Dmitry Bivol, Callum Smith and Ben Whitaker as he comes through over the next 12 months. But the list is endless, really. So, really big news for DAZN and for PBC. We look forward to making more fights with them."

One of the major complaints in the past from those in and around the sport is that far too often promotional outfits got in their own way, and the fights that should have been made were not. With the bulk of the promotions airing their fights on DAZN, it's easier than ever to make the matchups the public wants to see.
"It's so easy," Hearn said. "I mean, Boots against Zayas was a great example. If Top Rank was still with ESPN, there is no way they would have made Zayas against Boots. But that's the name of the game. I've been doing it for a long time. I don't have to be a favourite in the fight to make the fight.
"But notoriously, historically, and Top Rank are one of them; they don't mind me saying they don't really, or they haven't really wanted to make a fight, unless they're the favourite in the fight, because it's your job to keep your talent on your respective platform.
"Now we're all on the same platform. So your job is just to make the best fights. And if you lose, you lose. And I've done, you know, I've been quite consistent sometimes in losing. But I've been making the best fights, and now we're winning.
"So it's just that's how it goes. If you're good enough, you win. But you know, it allows the fight fans to see the very best of the best. And if you're a DAZN subscriber, this is just a greater example to you of the fact that you are going to see the best fights in the sport."
