After capturing the imagination of boxing fans worldwide in an electric atmosphere in April, Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn now run it back in their highly anticipated rematch.
The sequel Saturday night returns to the same Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, and live, only on DAZN Pay-Per-View, with both men looking to put an emphatic end to their explosive rivalry.
A heated buildup between the British boxers only led to an explosive affair as both Eubank Jr. and Benn had their moments in a ferocious first fight, which the former wound up winning by unanimous decision.
With their fathers looking on, will the rematch have Eubank Jr. making it a clean sweep of his rival? Or will Benn exact revenge with a redeeming victory of his own?
The anticipation is reaching a fever pitch, prompting DAZN News to rattle off the Keys to Victory for both Eubank Jr. and Benn heading into their rematch.
Chris Eubank Jr. did not have an easy time asserting his jab in their April fight, but the more he can establish the stick with precision against a rabid Conor Benn, the better he might be able to tame his rival’s aggression and control the pace of the fight.
A slicing uppercut was Eubank Jr.’s best weapon to thwart an incoming Benn and brush him back repeatedly.
The best part of the punch, which Eubank Jr. unloads well with either hand, is that he lets Benn do all the work.
As Benn fought forward with aggression, closing in on the ring real estate between them, Eubank Jr. simply baited him in and launched the uppercut to effective results.
It should remain Eubank Jr.’s biggest punch in their rematch as well.
In their April fight, Eubank Jr. was at his best, putting together deliberate combinations, ideally off the jab.
Where he was most vulnerable, however, was when trading shots with Benn, who got the best of many of those fiery exchanges.
Eubank Jr. can engage in that kind of inside fighting, but he must be mindful of those exchanges.
That could look like tactics such as resorting to the clinch or muscling Benn around as long as Eubank Jr. is forcing his rival to reset, frustrating him along the way.
Eubank Jr. cannot afford to simply engage in firefighting freely, or he could pay a steep price.
Conor Benn must be mindful in picking his spots with discipline and measured aggression.
He cannot allow himself to swing wildly, overextend, and leave himself vulnerable to a pointed counter from Chris Eubank Jr.
Instead, pouncing with timed output can grant Benn the points and subsequent rounds necessary to have a chance to even the series with his rival.
Benn, being a bit more measured, could pay dividends, but it is important for the British warrior to be himself as well.
And Benn, by nature, is a feisty, forward-fighting force with the kind of all-action boxing that can push any opponent to his limits, including Eubank Jr.
During their initial bout, Benn produced his best work, punching in traffic with Eubank Jr. In the pocket while trading fire is where Benn was able to get the best of many exchanges due to his quicker hand speed.
The more Benn can jump in and out of the phone booth with rapid punch production, the better position he will put himself in. Punching sharply in the pocket is a must for Benn.
Go back and watch the first Eubank Jr.-Benn fight, and you will note how Benn was his own worst enemy over several sequences.
That’s because he allowed his emotions to get the best of him and, in the process, was left exploited.
Aggression is fine, though an overly aggressive approach can be costly and backfire.
Thus, Benn must keep composed at all times to exact cold revenge.
