Frank Martin made a splashy return to boxing in December following a roughly 18-month layoff. Now he will look to make another statement at super lightweight to start his 2026.
On Saturday night, he will clash with Nahir Albright at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and live on DAZN PPV and Ultimate Tier. The fight will be part of the Mario Barrios vs. Ryan Garcia card.
After suffering his first professional loss via an eighth-round knockout at the hands of Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis in June 2024, Martin returned to the ring with a fourth-round KO of Rances Barthelemy in December. With this short turnaround, another convincing win for Martin (19-1, 13 KOs) would make him that much more of a growing force at 140 pounds. ‘The Ghost’ will be up against Albright (17-2, 7 KOs) who produced a majority decision over Kelvin Davis in June.
Will Martin make another statement at super lightweight? Or will Albright prove to be too crafty in an upset victory himself? DAZN News analyzes the Keys to Victory for both fighters.
Frank Martin will double up on his jab often and change levels to dedicate deposits to the body. This could come in the form of a stab jab to the body or Martin plowing his power into opponents’ midsection with a loaded left hand as the backend of a combination. Attacking the body could slow Nahir Albright down as the fight wanes, allowing Martin to unload heavier artillery.
Watch Martin work and ‘The Ghost’ does an excellent job with subtle footwork that forces opponents to turn. Martin usually does this with a simple pivot. Albright moves well around the ring too, but each turn that Martin goads him into means a reset of offense and possible opening for ‘The Ghost’ to pounce.
A straight left through the guard eviscerated Rances Barthelemy in a Knockout of the Year candidate. Martin ought to rifle the shot through Albright’s guard too. He lands it flush and Albright could find himself in a world of trouble as the latest victim on Martin's growing highlight reel.
Nahir Albright has a snappy, effective jab that he steps into well. His ability to establish the stick early against Frank Martin is a major key and Albright possesses the ring savvy to do it.
Against a heavy-handed Martin, Albright would be wise to piece together his combinations in bursts off the aforementioned jab. If he could score with these short bursts, Albright might manage to swipe rounds from ‘The Ghost' or even build a lead.
Martin has patience in the pocket. Understanding this, Albright should look to aggressively driving up his punch count to land enough blows to win rounds. Albright is a crafty sweet scientist in the pocket and is capable of cranking up his output.
