Tszyu, Fenech, Rose: Before Joseph Parker return, who are the greatest ANZAC boxers of all time?

Joseph Parker ends an eight-month wait for action this weekend as he faces Fabio Wardley in London, live on DAZN Pay-Per-View.

The New Zealander will bid to reaffirm his status as the number one contender to Oleksandr Usyk against the Briton at The O2 Arena.

An ex-WBO heavyweight world champion, Parker's career resurgence in recent years has helped rubber-stamp his place in the sport.

But he is far from the only legendary boxer to emerge from Down Under over the years, with many others leaving their mark on boxing.

Now, ahead of the star's latest test, DAZN News considers the contenders from Australia or New Zealand for the greatest ANZAC fighter.

Kostya Tszyu

Born in the Soviet Union, but naturalised as an Australian citizen, few stars are synonymous with Sydney like the 'Thunder from Down Under'.

One of the greatest light welterweight fighters of all-time, he reigned as undisputed champion of the three-belt era between 2001 and 2003.

Major victories against Zab Judah, Julio César Chávez and Sharmba Mitchell - twice - helped burnish a reputation as a pound-for-pound great.

He quit at 31-2 (1) in 2005 after his second career loss, retiring on the stool against the late Ricky Hatton, but left behind a superb legacy.

Joseph Parker

The Auckland-born heavyweight star missed out on the London 2012 Olympic Games, but since turning professional, has put the sport on notice.

A heavyweight with relentless guile and determination, Parker is a former WBO heavyweight champion who has risen from the ashes once more.

Though his first reign lasted less than two years following a loss to Anthony Joshua, he has rebuilt in the past decade with some superlative wins.

Success against Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang ensures his place in the history books - but another title reign could enshrine his all-timer status.

Jeff Fenech

If Tszyu captured Sydney hearts, it was only in part thanks to the retirement of the man they called the 'Marrickville Mauler' and his brutal style.

Across the eighties and early nineties, Fenech was the face of Australian boxing on the international stage, proving his worth at multiple weights.

A three-division champion, he captured the IBF bantamweight title, the WBC super-bantamweight strap and the WBC featherweight crown.

He retroactively won the WBC super-featherweight title against Azumah Nelson after a recount, but lost an IBF lightweight challenge to Philip Holiday.

Jai Opetaia

The scary thing about the Wyong-born fighter is that he could lay a reasonable claim to be one of Australia's best - and yet he's only getting started.

A former World Junior Championships gold-medalist at light-heavyweight, Opetaia has built a reputation as a current pound-for-pound great.

Two reigns as IBF cruiserweight champion - split only after they stripped it from him the first time - has been marked by a string of major victories.

If there is a caveat, it is that Opetaia is yet to nab an opponent on his level - but brutal wins over Mairis Briedis and Jack Massey speak to his skill.

Lionel Rose

The first Indigenous Australian to become world champion, 'Slim' remains an icon across the country, especially in his native Victoria, for his success.

Raised in Warragul, and of the Gunditjmara people, Rose fought relentlessly early on, clocking up half-a-dozen bouts each year, mostly in Melbourne.

He subsequently went to Tokyo and dethroned Fighting Harada to become undisputed bantamweight champion in 1968, and reigned for a year-and-a-half.

A string of losses late in his career as he launched a larger media profile, including a minor singing career, still do not detract from his skill as a top operator.
