Jake Paul tried utilizing every part of the ring with agile movement and even tumbled to the canvas several times when Anthony Joshua drew near, but in the end he couldn't keep AJ off him.
A total of four knockdowns, including the decisive crushing right hand that kept him on the canvas, finally resulted in Paul suffering a sixth-round knockout loss at Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, and live on Netflix, on Friday night. The loss served as Paul's second defeat in boxing, but first via knockout.
Just like the blistering blow that kept him on the canvas, Paul (12-2, 7 KOs) took the defeat on the chin.
"This sport has helped me so much in my life," Paul began saying on Netflix before adding, "I think my jaw is broken by the way."
He then spit out blood before saying "it's definitely broke."
Even making it to nearly six full rounds with a former two-time unified heavyweight world champion and Olympic gold medalist was somewhat of a feat for Paul who promised to rise back from the loss.
"A nice little ass whooping from one of the best to ever do it so I love this s—t," he said, "and I'm going to come back and get a world championship belt at some point."
Though Paul was able to avoid AJ for most of the first three rounds, Joshua cut off the ring in the fourth and got to the YouTuber turned boxer in the fifth with a pair of knockdowns.
Two more knockdowns, including the one that kept Paul seated, followed in the sixth as 'The Problem Child' conceded about the larger Joshua that "it was just so much handling his weight."
Paul believed if he had better cardio, perhaps the result could have been different. That said, it's something Paul can build toward and address moving forward.
