Jack Catterall’s new trainer Derek ‘Bozy’ Ennis has played down the threat of Ekow Essuman.
It will be the first time Catterall has fought under guidance of Ennis when his bout with Essuman provides chief support to the huge rematch between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, live on DAZN PPV.
Catterall upped sticks and left Jamie Moore’s Manchester gym to prepare with Ennis in Philadelphia for his latest assignment against Essuman, who arrives on the back of a decision victory over long-time Catterall rival Josh Taylor.

Now training alongside the likes of Ennis’ son, Jaron, and Andy Cruz, Catterall will be having his second outing at welterweight as he chases an elusive first world title and ‘Bozy’ has dismissed the chances of Essuman.
Ennis told Boxing Scene: “[Essuman is] just a puncher. No defence. All Jack gotta do is box him; lateral movement; inside; outside; a lot of feints. Jack should prevail with this fight.”
If Catterall gets past Essuman, he will have a very close eye on Brian Norman Jnr. vs. Devin Haney for the WBO welterweight title in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 22.
